A student of mine, Grayson, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008. He was 6 years old. I had the wonderful opportunity to have worked with him and his family and feel blessed to have done so. I learned so much from him during 2005-2007 school years. He wandered away from his grandparents in Gastonia, NC and got into a neighbor's pool where he drowned. Grayson was diagnosed with Autism and was such a beautiful and energetic child. The funeral was quite difficult and very sad. It has been a struggle dealing with this tragic news. Recently, there was a PTA meeting at his school where they showed a wonderful slideshow that demonstrated just how beautiful Grayson was. At his school, a tree was planted right before school began near his classroom. A memorial stone will be placed alongside the tree in the near future.
